Hello dear forum

I am planning to do part of the pilgrimage later in February.

While gathering information I stumbled with Free Lodging. I've got a question: do I need a sleeping bag for this kind of places?

Kind regards!

Yes. Some of the free lodgings have blankets but most don't. If you're doing a sizable part of the pilgrimage I'd also recommend a bivy and an air mattress. Sometimes you'll be sleeping on concrete, wood or dirt with minimal shelter.

Some places can be very cold, for example I slept in a small shrine somewhere between #54-#55. There was no heater and no good insulation.
My sleeping bag had a comfort temperature of around 0 celcius but that is not correct. It's at least 5 degress higher, hence it got cold even inside a closed room like the one above.
Always be prepared for cold temperatures, especially if you want to sleep outside. Early March can be severly cold.
