Hi all,

I planned to do the pilgrimage with another person, both cycling. We'll take our bikes with us on the flight to Osaka, and here comes the tricky point.

To transport our bikes I am inclined to rent rigid bags or to use cardboard boxes, to better protect the bikes from rough handling. The point is, where to store them during our trip and take them back?

Talking with some another cycling henro he told me he was lucky enough to find a japanese on the flight who offered to store his box for his entire stay. Of course I'd rather not rely on luck to find somebody, so do you know any place where I can store 2 boxes/rigid bags for about 3 weeks?

I flew into KIX and used the airport hotel in nearby Rinku town as my base. They were happy to store my bike case until I returned a few weeks later. Good luck on your trip!

It was the ANA Gate Tower when I stayed there in 2010, but according to Wikipedia, it changed hands in 2011 and is now the Star Gate Hotel Kansai Airport: See http://www.s-gth.jp/english/

I have found two places where it is possible to let boxes in storage (at least the management agreed to my request to leave them there while we do the Henro route).

- Kuguru Guest House, close to temple 75 (http://kuguru.net/index.html)

- Mimatsuso Ryokan, 598-0011, Izumisano, Takamatsukita 1-4-30 (conveniently located for the Airport) tel +81724620961

I support the pilgrim travel through cycle.Cycle is one of the best means of transportation. But in this developed world travel through cycle is becoming a shame for most of the people.
